Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting: Freedom within the Contractions of Pregnancy, Birth, Parenting and Beyond
Join us this coming Monday evening for a free session with international MBCP teachers Michele and Jen
Dear Members
To celebrate our newly approved recognition of the wonderful international Mindfulness-based childbirth and parenting (MBCp) Teacher Training Program, we will host a session this coming Monday evening May 12th at 7.30pm until 9pm with international MBCp teacher trainers Michele Kavanagh and Jennifer Averill Moffitt to talk about the MBCp programme itself and about facilitating mindfulness-based work with expectant and new parents.
MBCP is an evidence-based programme for expectant parents that integrates mindfulness skills and practice with childbirth and parenting education. MBCP in its original form (9 sessions delivered to groups) is intended to meet the needs of a wide range of expectant parents. Incorporating the core practices of MBSR, MBCP participants explore "being with" pain, fear, joy... for the contractions of labor, and the contractions of life. Research over the last 17 years demonstrates the significant impact of MBCP, including on perinatal depression, anxiety, fear of childbirth, and parent-infant attachment.
"Mindfulness practice gives us the option for relating to the physical sensations we call pain. In the very observations of the pain, a tiny window of freedom has opened up in which you have the ability to choose how you will relate to painful sensations in that moment - and in the next, and the next after that…." Nancy Bardacke, Founder of Mindful Birthing and Parenting Foundation
This will be an interactive session with Jen and Michele and an opportunity to connect with other MTAI members interested in this area. We’d love to see you there and you can register here.
Warm wishes
